Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea: tickets, Fantasy Springs and getting there
Maihama, Chiba · A full day each
Disneyland or DisneySea? One park per day
Tokyo Disneyland is the classic castle park: gentle rides, parades and character meetings, and the easy choice with young children. Tokyo DisneySea exists only in Japan. It's built around a harbor and a volcano, with more thrill rides, more atmosphere for grown-ups and alcohol in its restaurants. If you have one day and no small children, DisneySea is the usual pick.
Fantasy Springs, DisneySea's newest area, opened in 2024 with worlds from Frozen, Tangled and Peter Pan. You no longer need a special pass to get in: it's open to every DisneySea guest, and the rides use normal standby lines. Disney Premier Access, the paid skip-the-line option, is sold for three of its four attractions, and Frozen Journey is usually the first to sell out.
Tokyo Disney tickets and the app Book before you fly
Every ticket is for a specific date and park, and the price follows expected demand. From 1 October 2026, an adult 1-Day Passport runs from 8,900 yen on quiet days to 12,400 yen on the busiest. Popular dates, especially weekends and school holidays, can sell out, so buy on the official site or app well ahead.
Install the Tokyo Disney Resort app before you arrive. It holds your ticket, shows wait times, sells Disney Premier Access for individual rides and takes mobile food orders. On busy days, the paid passes for the most popular rides are gone within the first few hours, so open the app the moment you're through the gate.
Haneda to Tokyo Disney Resort Take the bus
Airport limousine buses run from all three Haneda terminals to Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea and the resort hotels. Adults pay 1,300 yen and children 650 yen, and the journey time depends on traffic. From Anamori-inari, ride two stops to Haneda Airport Terminal 3 and board there. Buy tickets online or at the terminal machines, and leave extra time on the way back for evening traffic.
Yokohama amusement parks on the Keikyu line
Closest parks to base
Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise (横浜・八景島シーパラダイス) A full family day
An island park on Tokyo Bay that pairs four aquarium areas with outdoor rides, including a roller coaster along the seafront. Walking onto the island is free; you pay for the aquariums, the rides, or a One Day Pass that covers both. The aquariums make it a safe bet when the forecast is uncertain, though the outdoor rides can stop in strong wind.
It's on your own railway: take the Keikyu line to Kanazawa-hakkei and change to the driverless Kanazawa Seaside Line for Hakkeijima Station. Check whether your train needs a change on the way, and check prices on the official site, since ticket types change.
Yokohama Cosmo World (よこはまコスモワールド) An evening, not a day
Cosmo World in Minato Mirai has free entry and charges by the ride, so you can stay 20 minutes or three hours. The draw is its giant Ferris wheel, Cosmo Clock 21: 1,000 yen a ride, and at dusk the whole harbor lights up below you. It's closed on Thursdays, and ride tickets are sold for cash.
Treat it as part of an evening with dinner in Chinatown or Noge rather than a theme-park day. The Yokohama Eating Guide has places to eat nearby.
Hanayashiki: Japan's oldest amusement park
Hanayashiki (浅草花やしき) Two hours with Senso-ji
Hanayashiki opened in 1853 as a flower garden and is considered Japan's oldest amusement park. It's small and cheerfully old-fashioned, wedged into the streets of Asakusa, with a 1950s roller coaster that rattles past the neighbors' rooftops. Young children love it, and so does anyone with a soft spot for retro Japan. Pair it with Senso-ji, a short walk away, and see it as part of an Asakusa day rather than a destination on its own.
Asakusa is on the Toei Asakusa Line, which connects with the Keikyu line; some trains run straight through. Hanayashiki closes on occasional maintenance days, so check before you go.
Yomiuriland: big roller coasters without the Disney crowds
Yomiuriland (よみうりランド) Thrill rides, fewer crowds
Spread over a hill on the border of Inagi in Tokyo and Kawasaki, Yomiuriland is a big outdoor park with serious roller coasters, water rides in summer and a manufacturing-themed area where children build things and then ride them. In the colder months its large illumination show draws evening crowds. A One-Day Pass costs 5,900 yen for adults at the gate and a little less online. From Keio Yomiuri-land Station, the Sky Shuttle gondola carries you up to the entrance.
Indoor amusement parks in Tokyo for rainy days
When the forecast says stay inside
Tokyo Joypolis (東京ジョイポリス) Odaiba, half a day
A multi-floor indoor park in Odaiba's Decks Tokyo Beach mall, with simulator rides, an indoor coaster and game attractions. Entry is 1,700 yen for adults, or 6,000 yen for an all-day passport with unlimited rides; an evening passport costs less. Teenagers and gamers get the most out of it. Odaiba is a long trip from Haneda (about 40–60 minutes), so combine it with the rest of Odaiba rather than a second park.
Sanrio Puroland (サンリオピューロランド) Tama, a full day
Hello Kitty's home: an entirely indoor park of shows, character greetings and gentle rides, about five minutes' walk from Tama Center Station. Tickets are sold by date, from 3,900 to 6,900 yen for adults depending on the day, and weekdays are much cheaper. It's a long trip across the city from Haneda, but completely weatherproof.
Harry Potter studio tour Book well ahead
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter isn't a ride park. It's an indoor walk through the sets, costumes and props, built on the site of the old Toshimaen amusement park. From July 2026, adult tickets cost 6,600 to 7,300 yen, and you must book a date and entry time in advance. Allow at least three to four hours inside.
Which Tokyo amusement park is right for you?
| If you want... | Go to... | Avoid... |
|---|---|---|
| One unforgettable park day | Tokyo DisneySea, booked in advance | Buying on the day for a weekend or holiday |
| Young children and classic characters | Tokyo Disneyland, or Hanayashiki for a shorter day | Two big parks back to back |
| Something close to base | Hakkeijima Sea Paradise on the Keikyu line | Heading out to Tama or Inagi on arrival day |
| A cheap, flexible evening | Cosmo World's Ferris wheel and dinner in Yokohama | Going on a Thursday |
| Big roller coasters | Yomiuriland, or DisneySea's thrill rides | Expecting Hanayashiki's coaster to be a thrill ride |
| A rainy day | Sanrio Puroland, Joypolis or the Harry Potter tour | Outdoor parks in strong wind or heavy rain |
Three park days from Haneda
The Disney day
- Buy a dated ticket and install the app well before the trip.
- Early Keikyu train from Anamori-inari to Haneda Airport Terminal 3, then the limousine bus to your park.
- Arrive before opening, and check the app for Disney Premier Access on the ride you care about most as soon as you're inside.
- Sit down properly for a break mid-afternoon. Stay for the evening show if everyone still has energy.
- Limousine bus back to Haneda, then two stops home. Keep tomorrow slow.
Good for: first-time visitors and families. One park per day.
The Yokohama sea day
- Keikyu line to Kanazawa-hakkei, then the Seaside Line to Hakkeijima.
- Aquariums in the morning, rides after lunch.
- Back on the Keikyu line toward Yokohama in the late afternoon.
- Dinner in Chinatown or Noge.
- Cosmo World's Ferris wheel after dark (not on Thursdays), then Keikyu home.
Good for: families who want a full day without crossing the city.
The rainy day
- Check the forecast the night before and book a dated ticket for Puroland or the Harry Potter tour.
- Leave mid-morning. Both are long trips, so bring snacks for the train.
- Spend the heart of the day indoors: shows and characters at Puroland, or sets and props at the studio tour.
- An early dinner near the park rather than back in the center.
- Home before the evening rush. Save the outdoor parks for a dry day.
Good for: families with young children, and Sanrio or Harry Potter fans.
Tickets, weather and other things to know
- Check the official site the day before. Prices, ride closures, maintenance days and opening hours change, sometimes at short notice.
- Book dated tickets early. Tokyo Disney, Sanrio Puroland and the Harry Potter tour all sell by date, and peak days sell out.
- Keep your phone charged. At Disney, paid ride passes, wait times and food orders all go through the app. A power bank earns its place in your bag.
- Plan around the weather. Summer heat is intense, and outdoor rides stop for strong wind, lightning or heavy rain. Take water, shade and breaks seriously.
- Check height and age limits. Many rides have a minimum height. Look it up before you promise a child a particular coaster.
- Carry some cash. Cosmo World sells ride tickets for cash, and smaller parks may not take every card.
- Travel light. Park lockers fill up fast, so bring a day bag and leave the suitcase behind.
Staying near Haneda for Disney and Yokohama
Stark House Haneda is a short walk from Anamori-inari Station on the Keikyu Airport Line, two stops from Haneda Airport Terminal 3, where the limousine buses to Tokyo Disney Resort leave. The same Keikyu line runs to Yokohama and to Kanazawa-hakkei for Hakkeijima Sea Paradise. The two private studios, Room 202 and Room 401, are about 20 m² each and sleep on futons.
What you get is a calm base with an easy bus to Disney and the Yokohama parks on your own train line. If your trip is several Disney days in a row, though, a hotel in the Maihama area will be simpler.
Frequently asked questions
Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea: which is better?
Choose Disneyland for young children, classic rides, parades and characters. Choose DisneySea for adults, teenagers and first-time visitors who want something they can't find elsewhere: its harbor setting, bigger thrill rides and the Fantasy Springs area. With only one day, most adults prefer DisneySea; most families with small children prefer Disneyland.
How much are Tokyo Disney tickets in 2026?
Tickets are sold for a specific date and park, and the price changes with expected demand. From 1 October 2026, an adult 1-Day Passport costs between 8,900 and 12,400 yen depending on the date. Buy on the official site or app in advance, because popular dates can sell out.
Do I need a special pass for Fantasy Springs?
Not any more. Fantasy Springs, the newest area of Tokyo DisneySea, is open to all DisneySea guests, and its rides now use normal standby lines. You can also buy paid Disney Premier Access for three of its four attractions; Frozen Journey sells out first on busy days.
How do I get from Haneda Airport to Tokyo Disney Resort?
The simplest way is the airport limousine bus from any Haneda terminal to Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea and the resort hotels. The adult fare is 1,300 yen, and journey time depends on traffic. By train you need at least two changes, including a long walk to the Keiyo Line at Tokyo Station, so the bus is usually easier with children or bags.
What is the best amusement park in Tokyo on a rainy day?
Choose an indoor park: Sanrio Puroland in Tama or Tokyo Joypolis in Odaiba. The Harry Potter studio tour is also indoors but must be booked in advance for a set date and time. Hakkeijima Sea Paradise's aquariums work in light rain, but its outdoor rides may stop in strong wind.
Is there a free amusement park in Tokyo?
Yokohama's Cosmo World has free entry: you pay per ride, and its big Ferris wheel costs 1,000 yen. It is closed on Thursdays. Entry to Hakkeijima island is also free, though its aquariums and rides need tickets. Both make easy evening plans without committing to a full-day pass.
Is Hanayashiki worth visiting?
Yes, if you're in Asakusa with young children or want something retro. It dates from 1853 and is considered Japan's oldest amusement park, with a roller coaster from the 1950s. It is small, cheap compared with the big parks, and best as a two-hour stop alongside Senso-ji, not a full day.
Which amusement parks are easy to reach from Haneda?
Tokyo Disney Resort is a direct limousine bus ride from the airport. Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is on the Keikyu line via Kanazawa-hakkei and the Seaside Line, and Cosmo World is a short ride from Yokohama Station. Hanayashiki is near Asakusa on the Toei Asakusa Line. Yomiuriland, Sanrio Puroland and the Harry Potter tour are long cross-city trips. Always double-check the current timetable and operation status before departure.
